Some views from Wisconsin

A couple of recent studies. To the right is a watercolor pencil and paint sketch of the front yard where we stayed in Chimayo, the weeping willow leaves were irresistable! This is done in a 5 x7 Moleskine WC notebook. I've discovered that watercolor pencil is magical, all those hard edges dissolve beautifully beneath a wet brush and add a controlled edge, fun to play with!
To the left, my first take on the Rio Chama; in it I amalgamated two photos of the many I've seen of this view. If you have a chance, take a peek at the book Hillerman Country, done by the novelist Tony Hillerman and his photographer brother Barney. Gorgeous shots of country all around the four corners and on the Navaho Reservation, including this very familiar view of the oxbow and sandbar.
